Hi there! My name is Daisy, and I'm looking for that special someone that will let me bring joy and love into their home. I'm 8 years old, and have been told I have a wonderful smile. I have to tell you, I've had quite a summer so far. A few months ago, I was diagnosed with 3rd degree AV heart blockage, and as you can imagine, I was quite frightened and worried. My foster mom and dad, and the wonderful folks at MLRR told me "everything's going to be alright", rushed me off to specialists and got me fixed up with a pacemaker…can you believe that? It’s like a whole new world has opened up for me…I feel so much better. I also have some arthritis in my rear legs, and I have medicine for that, but other than that, I'm ready to go!
I'm still a pretty laid back girl though, and a little shy when I meet new people. My favorite things in the world are being next to my human friends, eating, chew bones, and a nice soft bed to lay on…but hey, isn’t that a Labrador’s life?! I like rides in the car (you will have to lift my backside up, but I'll help you out by getting my front paws up), short walks and playing in the yard with my foster fur brother. I can “hold my own” when I pull the rope with my foster fur brother, and am pretty good at bringing back the tennis ball when my foster family throws it, as long as it’s not too far. Although I’m not very fast, I try to chase the crazy squirrels. I only bark when there is something unfamiliar to me. There are no youngsters here, but I think I would be good with them. Cats I'm not sure about, we see them on walks, and I don't go crazy, so I think that's a good thing. I follow my foster mom and dad everywhere…who knows what I could miss out on? I sleep in bedrooms, home offices…just about anywhere, except maybe a crate, I don't think I would like a crate. When it comes to food, well, what can I say, I love to eat. I clean up my bowl, lickety split, and watch to see if there are any leftovers in my foster fur buddies' bowls. Not that I am allowed extras, but I try. I do have some seasonal allergies, and take Benedryl when needed.
I think the perfect forever home for me would be someone looking for a seasoned, well-mannered, senior companion, perhaps a yard to play in, and a house with limited steps (due to the arthritis in my back legs…on the plus side, I'm not jumping up on furniture, beds, or other people!) Do I sound like someone you'd like to meet? I surely hope so. Please come see what a sweet, loving yellow dog I am…hope to see you soon!
Hi Corinne - the first step in the adoption process is to complete an adoption application, then a home visit & final approval from the Board. If you haven't done that yet, please do. If you have, please let me know the last name the application is under.
