Angel - ADOPTED!

Hi! I’m Angel and my family thinks the name suits me well.

I’m a 12-year-old beauty with the patience of a saint, good with other animals and all ages of human – even two year olds who mistakenly hand me their cookie instead of my greenie, then boldly reach right inside my mouth to take it back when the mistake is noticed… No, it didn’t make me angry, but since I like the occasional piece of home-made shortbread, it made me REALLY sad, and made me realize that I need to chew my food more quickly when little ones are around.

Given that I’m a senior citizen, you’d think I’d be falling apart, but I’m not. I have my issues, but none are really serious: I enjoy walks and naps equally, and I pick out my favorite humans and am incredibly loyal to them. It makes me sad when all my favorites go out, even though they leave my with my less favorite humans (you know the kind – the ones who don’t want to share their cookies or their beds…). When that happens I cry and pace, but don’t worry, you don’t have to kennel me: I’m an honorable woman and do not seek revenge! I’m only 50 pounds which I feel categorizes me as a lap dog. If I can convince you of that, I’ll be in heaven! If not, I’ll snuggle up and keep your feet warm. I’m very empathetic and know who needs my loving care. I do like to be brushed, and my wavy coat is shiny and black. I’m above chewing on shoes, furniture, and children’s toys – too mature, you know - and I haven’t stolen anything off the counter or table – even the shortbread cookies carelessly left within my reach are safe.

There are a few things you should know about me: 1) I’m a front seat kind of lady. I much prefer to see out the front windshield and stick my head out the front side window, so I’d prefer humans sit in the rear. If you insist on putting me in the back, I will breathe down your neck, and will drool down the front seat passenger's back - Don't say you weren't warned! 2) I snore worse than a human – not that I’m criticizing them you understand, but be prepared. There are also a few medical issues which MLRR is handling for me, but by the time you come visit me I should be in great shape.

See you!

Angel looks just as her name implies. As I stated in my post for Chelsea, my husband are unable to take any more dogs at this time. But re Angel and Chelsea and any and all older dogs: they've spent their entire lives giving unconditional love to humans, some of whom consider these dogs disposable trash when they have babies or some hard times. Our dogs, Luke and Jackson, are members of our family. We would no more consider giving them up than giving up kids. Both Angel and Chelsea have gotten a terribly rotten deal and speaking for them I'd just like to ask someone to open their heart(s) and make the last years of these dogs full of love. Yes, there are drawback to adopting an older dog, but they need and deserve love as much, maybe more, than a young puppy. I know that dogs show and feel gratitude, and the payback for adopting Angel or Chelsea would be enormous. It would be more difficult than taking a young dog, but often times the hard things done in life are the most rewarding. These poor dogs have been treated like crap by the very humans they loved with all their hearts, yet I'd wager that their hearts are as open to giving love as ever. Please someone out there help these older dogs. All they want is a bowl of water, some food, a walk, and a belly rub. Please restore their faith in humans. I guarantee that you not only won't regret it, but your heart will be filled with more joy for having done a wonderful thing.

Angel is visiting with a family since Friday and it looks like it is going to work out. We don't typically do visits, but in Angel's case it made the most sense, given her age. We want to make sure she is comfortable for the rest of her years. Thanks for everyone who gives these older dogs a chance!

When I read Angel and Chelsea were adopted I had tears of joy! The family that threw away 2 wonderful dogs that unconditionally loved them should never be allowed to own a dog again. Too many bogus reasons why people throw there pets away like trash. Older dogs that have been less fortunate deserve a happy tail wagging life! More people need to consider the older dogs, maybe they can learn something from them. My love to you Chelsea and Angel
